Personality:
~On his own, Alex is very unconcerned with what he says or does. He'll swear at inanimate objects that annoy him, treat his possessions like pets, and randomly laugh at funny thoughts that occur to him. He's easily distracted at times, but when he focuses on something it becomes the only thing in his world. Alex likes to memorize random tidbits of information and share them at generally inappropriate times. In contrast with his twisted sense of humor (he enjoys dead baby jokes, among other things), he displays child-like enthusiasm and naivety when doing stuff he enjoys.

~Other people generally have one of two views. Those that know him consider him one of the kindest people they've ever met, an intelligent person with astounding talents for art and writing. He has odd tendencies, but he always makes life interesting.
To those that don't know him, he can be unnerving, possibly because he'll make odd comments at weird times, or possibly because his eyes are different colors, or because he's incredibly socially awkward. Alex generally makes a terrible first impression, often trying too hard to find a common point and jumping on it, without even knowing that his enthusiasm could creep people out. Still, over time people will come to see past his idiosyncrasies, getting to know the person inside.
~Alex has a strong sense of right and wrong, but sometimes forgets that he can't hold everyone to his own moral standards. He always tries to speak out against a bully, generally alienating both the victim and the antagonizer. When he feels like he'd made a mistake, it really hurts him, to the point where even hurting one person's feelings makes him feel like a villain.
Weaknesses:
~As mentioned, Alex is very sensitive of other people's feelings, something that more than one person has used to take advantage of him in the past. He has some difficulty making extended small talk with people, and he also has moderate to severe depression, depending on what happens. Perhaps his biggest weakness, strange as it may sound, is his excitement at becoming a "super-hero." Alex does honestly want to help people, but nothing has happened so far that would snap him out of his "fantasy." If he wants to be a real hero, then Alex will have to realize that this isn't some comic where the good guys always win. One way, or another...

Weapons: Stellar Saber (primary), Comet Chakrams (secondary)

Alex's main weapon is a lightsaber-like weapon he dubbed the "Stellar Saber," which is essentially a hilt with an extending double-helix of energy for a blade. The blade is extended by two buttons on the grip, which when depressed simultaneously project twin beams of golden energy which twine into a helix balde. Despite its size, the sword is very light-weight and easy for him to wield. Alex DOES find it a little awkward to use the blade at first, having taken fencing for many years, but he get's used to it fairly quickly. When not being used, he clips the hilt to the small of his back, underneath his armor's pack.

The Comet Chakrams are more closely related to Chinese Wind-and-Fire Wheels, since he uses them more for melee, but they come back like boomerangs when Alex does use them. The weapon exists as a pair, and Alex attaches them to his pack when they aren't in use. To store them, the ring around the outside retracts into a single blade, which locks into the grip. He then sticks them into the slots on his pack. The comet chakrams are a mystery to modern engineering; the outer ring (which consists of three blades and a razor edge) moves independently of the hilt. Through unknown means, it hovers a centimeters from the hilt while deployed, which allows the ring to spin at rapid speed, becoming a buzzsaw of sorts.

Combat Ability: Increased strength, speed, stamina, and aerobatics.
Combat Style: A mixture of close and mid-range combat. Alex becomes proficient in rapidly switching between his weapons, eventually becoming skilled enough to switch from blade to chakrams and back again within seconds, without interrupting the rhythm of his movements.

Techniques (In the order he gains them):

~Energized Slash- early on, Alex figures out how to increase the amount of energy flowing through his sword. This increases the blade's cutting ability, allowing it to easily slice through most materials, as well as giving it a completely awesome golden aura that trails behind it.

~Chakram Boomerang- Alex throws the outer ring of his chakrams by whirling them like a discus. Through unknown means, the rings will always return unless physically incapable. There seems to be some kind of connection between the grip and ring that allows this.

~Energized Spinners- Similar to the Slash, Alex charges his Chakrams with energy, causing the outer ring to spin at high velocity like buzz saws. He can combine this technique with the Boomerang to release two spinning saws of energy, though the further they travel the weaker they get.

~Astral Barrier- Rather than releasing the Chakrams, if Alex holds them out while they're spinning they project a barrier of golden energy, which repels most attacks. Individually, the barriers aren't very strong, so Alex tends to overlap them to create a larger, more powerful shield. Eventually, he'll be able to use this technique to create a full body shield, but this won't happen till much later.

~Stellar Shockwave- With time and practice, Alex learns how to use the energy from his slashes in the form of the obligatory sword-beam. With a powerful slash, he releases an expanding burst of golden energy using his saber as a focusing point. The wave is at maximum strength between short and medium range, after which it quickly dissipates.

-Later on- Alex will gain access to three powerful techniques, which are the strongest capable in his Azure Ranger form. In order, they are:

~C-C-C-Comet Breaker!- He amused himself by coming up with a name for this rather dangerous technique. Alex deploys both his Chakrams, and slashes them at his opponent with his saber. Not only does this increase the force at which they impact with the opponent, each strike also transfers more energy into the rings, increasing their power. With enough practice, Alex can do this several times over. Its main danger to him lies in the fact that if he mistimes even one slash, the whole technique will be thrown off, causing the chakrams to randomly fly off before returning without any energy left.

~Azure LAZAR- The rings from the Chakrams detach, floating up and sliding into place on the Saber's blade. The Rings serve as focusing points for the energy in the blade, as well as a spreader of sorts. Alex channels a large amount of energy into this new contraption, which after a couple of seconds of charging releases a massive destructive burst of energy, capable of completely disintegrating weaker foes. After using this technique, his chakrams become inactive for several minutes after, forcing Alex to rely on his saber.

~Cremation Meteor- Alex gave this technique a name fitting of how it feels to him. His chakrams once again unite with his saber, but this time the rings focus energy in opposite directions, causing a massive buildup of energy between the two rings. The overspill always seems to splash onto Alex, causing him to be engulfed in azure-and-gold flames. Alex points his blade at the enemy and dives, flying from the sky like a meteor to smash into his enemy. Upon contact, the energy within the rings violently explodes, causing tremendous damage to everything caught within, including Alex. If Alex charges enough energy in the blade, he could potentially kill himself with the power of the blast. This is his ultimate technique, after which he'll barely be able to stand, never mind fight.



History/Background:

~Alex was born to a standardish household, with two older siblings (brother and sister), his mom, and his stepdad. His sister got him hooked on comics from a young age, and Alex has grown up with the heroes of fantasy and fiction as his idols. It was his sister who gave him the pendant he wears on his neck, saying that it was a one-of-a-kind item she'd gotten in a foreign contest. Even at age 18, Alex still loved comics, and more than anything wished to become a real hero.

Obviously, he had thought of this as nothing more than a fantasy. His parents had drilled into him that stuff never happened like it did in comics, that even if he became a scientist he could never make a spider to turn him into Spiderman. Still, it was one of his favorite daydreams, to somehow swoop in and save the day when someone (hopefully a pretty girl) was in trouble.

So, Alex entertained that daydream throughout his schooling, sometimes drawing adventures, at others writing down his fantasies, up until he graduated high school. Alex was smart, but his parents were disappointed with his grades at graduation, in which he barely placed in the top fifty of his class of several hundred. Alex felt horrible that he'd hurt his parents like that, but still couldn't dismiss his silly dreams.

After starting college, Alex was on campus when something bizarre happened; several creatures unlike anything he ever saw before were attacking. Alex couldn't believe it. Here were real monsters, just like in the comics. Like an idiot, he tried to defend the girl he liked when she was cornered by a group of the creatures, only to be tossed aside. It was at this point that strange man approached him as he struggled to get up. The man gave him a wristwatch, which had the same symbol as Alex's pendant, and told him that he now had the strength to make his wish come true. The man warned him to be wary of his Karma, but left before Alex could get an explanation.

Without any other options, Alex put on the watch, and was shocked when it merged with the one he had on. With a surge of energy, he was transformed into the Azure Comet Ranger. Armed with his stellar saber, Alex was able to catch the creatures off guard, and managed to defeat them. Since then, Alex has been training with his power whenever he has some spare time, determined to become a real superhero and to live his dream.
